DT Jolly Arrested; Drug Charges

Packers defensive tackle Johnny Jolly has been arrested in his hometown of Houston, Texas, and is facing felony drug charges.

According to a report in the Houston Chronicle, Jolly was in possession of 200 grams of codeine.

Jolly has been recovering from shoulder surgery after suffering a torn rotator cuff last season. Throughout the offseason, Mike McCarthy has told me Jolly would be doubtful to be 100 percent at the start of Training Camp, due to the severity of the surgery, but would probably be ready for the season opener. The Packers are counting on Jolly to fill the gap left at defensive tackle left vacant after giving up Corey Williams in free agency to the Cleveland Browns.

Now they may miss out on Jolly's service, not only because of recovery from the surgery, but a possible suspension from the NFL due to the arrest for drugs.

Attempts to reach Jolly today were unsuccessful.

The Packers are aware of Jolly's arrest, and will wait until his case has gone to court before any comments or actions are taken.
