Packers GM Ted Thompson was not in Green Bay for Gus Frerotte's workout. Thompson was in Athens, Georgia, for the Georgia Bulldogs Pro Day. Thompson got a first hand look at defensive end Marcus Howard, who ran a 4.45 - 40 yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, the fastest time at that position. Howard, 6-foot-0, could be moved to linebacker in the pros. NO MORE NUMBER 4's The Associated Press says Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy confirms Brett Favre's #4 will be retired. Murphy says he has spoken to Favre about a ceremony during a home game at Lambeau Field this fall. I would expect that date to happen in September, when hopes are still high for the new season. Or, maybe near his birthday in October. Favre should tell the Packers to wait until 2009 for the ceremony. Why?
