Pack Re-sign Linebacker PDF Print E-mail

ImageGreen Bay  - - The Packers signed outside linebacker and special teams leader Tracy White to a two – year contract worth $1.8 million. White had been  in talks with the Denver Broncos, but the Packers finally came through with a deal White felt was fair.

The move marks the first player the Packers have signed since the beginning of free agency February 29th. White was an unrestricted free agent. Defensive tackle Corey Williams was traded to Cleveland for a second round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Defensive back Frank Walker signed with the Baltimore Ravens. That leaves back-up QB Craig Nall and TE Ryan Krause as the two remaining players left over from last year’s roster still waiting for a call back from the Packers.

Two other unrestricted free agents include long-snapper Rob Davis, who according to sources, would like to get picked up by another team so he can play a few more seasons. Davis has been told at age 39, it is unlikely he will be allowed back with Green Bay as a player. Back-up center Tyson Walter, after missing last year due to a toe injury, has yet to hear from Green Bay.

JETS SIGN BUBBA

Bubba Franks is now the property of the New York Jets. Franks, 30, signed a 1 year deal worth $1.7 million, and will play as a back - up at tight end behind New York starter Chris Baker. Franks was cut by the Packers on the eve of free agency.
