Favre Farewell Today at 11am PDF Print E-mail

Green Bay - - Brett and Deanna Favre will address the media at Lambeau Field today, Thursday, at 11am. Join us for live coverage before and after on 1250 WSSP, Milwaukee.

I have so many thoughts running through my mind right now; stories to share, thoughts about what has transpired in the last week regarding Brett and the Packers organization, which I promise to share here soon. I've been on the run non-stop for the past 4 days.

For now, please take a moment and think back to that Monday Night Football game in Oakland against the Raiders, December 22, 2003, when Irv died.

Then Packers offensive coordinator Tom Rosley took a ride down the team hotel elevator with some Wisconsin reporters the night before, his face ashen white. Someone asked Rosley if he was OK.

"We just found out Irv Favre died," said Rosley. Irv had been found dead of a heart attack, inside his car in a ditch along a Kiln, Mississippi road where Brett had been in a near fatal car accident years before while in college.

Brett got word when Ryan Longwell answered his cellphone while the two were out catching a round of golf on the Sunday before their Monday night game.

Then, the game. 4 TD passes in the first half. 399 total yards passing. Packers 41- Raiders 7.

A song entitled "Calling All Angels" by Train was on radio's top 40 charts that Christmas.

Our top producer at the station, John McDonough and I came up with the following audio tribute to Favre's unforgettable performance that night. It was played on the air that final week of 2003.

With news of Brett's retirement on the 4th of March, 2008, John as added some photos to the song.

Click here and remember why Brett Favre is so unique

I promise I will have more as we follow this story on-air on 1250 WSSP.

For now please share your thoughts on Brett Lorenzo Favre by e-mail at

After Brett and Deanna share their thoughts, please share yours and we'll post them here at www.michaelclemens.com

Thanks,

- Mike Clemens
